Problem:
Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia, had just finished construction
of the Royal Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The first event was
the International Volleyball Championships. In order to make the
opening spectactular the prince wanted a major laser / light show.
The problem was that there were no acceptable designers in Saudi
Arabia, and it was only three weeks to the event...
Solution:
One of the founding members of ITS was contacted. Over the course
of the next two weeks an entire system from Lights, Sound, Rigging,
Lasers and Crew was assembled and flown to Riyadh via a chartered
747.
In the end the entire outside of the complex was lit with both
automated lighting as well as lasers. The event inside consisted
of a parade followed by cultural dances and finished with a major
10 min. choreographed Laser, Light, and Sound show.
The following day the event was featured on the front page of
every newspaper in the country.
